Pilates is the new sensation, everybody famous is doing it, artists… but, what really is Pilates???

I believe that Pilates is the exercise of the future! This method was created by Joseph Pilates at the beginning of the last Century. it’s goal is the whole individual strengthen: BODY – MIND – SPIRIT. It has it’s origins on Yoga, and it’s main fundamentals are BREATHING, CONCENTRATION, CONTROL, CENTERING, PRECISION AND MOVEMENT FLUIDITY.
In a few words, your body will become efficient, harmonious, economic and balanced. It all happens by practicing exercises mainly horizontally. You lay down and relax, in a moment of connexion with your own body; when you do the movements you have to feel and concentrate on what your body is doing and it’s impossible to think about your daily problems while you do that. It’s awesome!!! It’s a moment where you totally disconnect from the outside world so that you can try to make your body do and react exactly how you want (and that is not easy!!!). The classes will gradually progress according to your strength and body awareness development, and even on basic exercises, they can always challenge or on coordination complexity, intensity or on balance. Everyone can and must try. This is a vary safe activity and it will respect your own limits, but be aware about your teacher certification, he should be a Pilates Certified Instructor, so that, what looks great and wonderful at first won’t end up being something dangerous…

Well, if Pilates promotes Health and Well Being Feeling, why shouldn’t you try? There is no age limit, from early ages till the best age (after 70s) you can and you should do Pilates, always respecting you own individuality and your own limits!

The sensation of being able to control your body and being able to touch your toes without any problem, or being able of doing complex movements without getting tires or feeling any difficulty, it’s something that there is no word to describe! When you first see the movement you right away think: ” I’ll never be able to do that!” But, after a few tries, you realize that you can actually go beyond that….
You can be an athlete and have a specific training or, you can be a sedentary… you can have injuries and pain… or be really healthy, Pilates will fit you just right!
